Having grown up at the beach, I have always loved the ocean. Every time I step out onto the sand at the beach, I am overwhelmed by the colors and the sounds, by the power of the waves crashing onto the sand, and the awe-inspiring beauty before my eyes. This love of the ocean, and God who created it, inspired my first work, the “Ocean Waves” piece at the top of my web page. As I was working the clay on that piece, I was picturing waves rolling along the beach, and jelly fish and manta rays moving through the water. When “Ocean Waves” came out of the kiln, I was captivated by how well those movements in my imagination were delicately frozen into this piece. I couldn’t stop there, and have begun creating the ‘Enchanted Seas’ Series. Each sculpture reflects the different colors and moods and energy the living ocean gives us with each and every visit to it.
Doing this post on a whim, I took these three photos instead of having them professionally done like the “Ocean Waves” piece. They don’t begin to show the beauty of these works. So come on by the shop and see them for yourself.
A few years ago, I started praying, what’s next, Lord? Chris and Amy were grown, and I was getting too old to load Package Cars at UPS, and weary of trying to get my employees to load their Package Cars without my help. Although UPS had been very good to me, my husband, Van, generously let me retire. Thank you, Van.
